Unit 4 — Connecting
Description
Students will aesthetically, and expressively relate to music based on their interests, experiences, ideas, and knowledge to create a meaningful performance. Students will celebrate the lives and music of various musicians through various genres of music as well as Music History. Some Specific Genres Include: Jazz, Hip-Hop, Spiritual, Classical, Ragtime, Rap. Awareness will be brought to Climate Change through chosen songs and performances.

Music - Connecting
Students apply mathematical thinking through rhythm patterns, beat subdivision, and proportional relationships in musical compositions and performances.
Students engage in speaking and listening through musical discussions, read and interpret musical notation, and write about music analysis and personal musical responses.
Students explore music from diverse cultures and historical periods, understanding how music reflects and shapes cultural values, identity, and historical contexts.
Students learn about sound waves, acoustics, and the physics of musical instruments while understanding climate change themes through selected songs and performances.
